how did it all start?

Greece is like a mirror. It makes you suffer. Then you learn.’
To live alone?’
To live. With what you are.”

John Fowles, The Magus

8 a.m. Monday.

I’ll be late, I already am…where is that bus?! Come on, it’s always on time— except today! Ugh! I need to text my hairdresser, “Sorry dear, I need a bit more time… I’m already on my way!” Her answer appears on my phone screen, “No rush, your appointment isn’t for an hour :)” Ah really?! I check my calendar… yep, it’s 9:00. Written there clearly – 9:00 Hairdresser. Mondays, right?

Oh, boy! This is so cool! I earned myself one free hour on a Monday morning! One precious hour where I can do whatever I want without interruption. I’ll find a cozy café and read— lovely! On my way to the café my thoughts took me back to one of the many things that have been on my mind lately: I want to find a way to test social media for a business before I launch my own company. I’ve been building an apparel startup for a few months now and I know that by the time we go live I’ll need up-to-date knowledge of search engine optimization, analytics, hashtags usage, conversion rates, timing of posts, layouts, colors, apps, hacks… a whole new science that is completely new to me! My first thought was to start a blog for my dog on Instagram– funny, pretty pictures… people love those, right? (Did you know, that Forbes has pet influencers as a separate category? Ha!)  Anyway, I didn’t really fall in love with the idea, to be honest. Plus, my dog is a huge black Doberman which makes it really hard to take a good photo of him, so I’d rather leave this idea and think of something else. But then, walking the city streets during this precious hour of mine, it hit me– what if I started a blog about my journey towards becoming an entrepreneur? Oh boy, this is super exciting! I need to tell Husband right away! I get to the café and instead of switching on my Kindle, I take my notebook and my pen and start to draft the idea.
